                  Ethan Wairau is a multifaceted creative working on projects in Australia and abroad. Specialising in collaborating with brands, creatives and clients to bring narrative to their work through atmospheric imagery, Ethan quickly and instinctively executes his concepts. Armed with a keen eye and library of unique and curated pieces, Ethan has a wide range of experience in styling for editorial interior shoots, sourcing and procurement, creating product led imagery, visual merchandising,  and composing still-life photos.

Working holistically to ensure your work is captured at its very best, Ethan starts by building out a story for your vision, pulling on his visual library and archive to create atmospheric and mood driven vignettes that sell your work. Presenting back and working alongside you every step of the way, Ethan instinctively and confidently curates pieces, often drawing on a wider design vocabulary including fashion, film and historical references.

               The surname, ‘Wairau’ stems from Ethan’s Māori roots. Its meaning translates to 'many waters’, ‘abundant waters’ or ‘waters gathered by a net’, references the myriad of streams and braided rivers in the namesake Wairau Valley. It can also relate to spiritual concepts, through ‘wairua’, meaning soul or spirit.  It is this essence and spirit that Ethan carries with him when creating his multi-faceted and ever evolving ⁠body of work.

               Ethan Wairau acknowledges the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation as the owners of the land in which I work, live and create, where sovereignty was never ceded.
